The Tip of the Iceberg

The clitoris as most people currently understand it at this stage in human evolution is only just the small external visible part of a much bigger and mainly internal erectile organ that relatively few people know about (that’s right, women have erections too, but most of it taking place internally instead!), which also has what we like to refer to as a “floral” structure—with long roots (the “clitoral crura”), massive bulbs hugging the vaginal canal (the “vestibular bulbs”), a stem (the “clitoral shaft”), and a delicate and very sensitive bud emerging on the surface of the body (the “glans” of the clitoris, which is the part most people are familiar with).  It is also becoming increasingly clear that proper stimulation and engorgement of this clitoral structure surrounding the vagina is intimately connected to the degree of sensations and sensitivity felt internally, and the subsequent possibility of having so-called vaginal orgasms during intercourse. Perhaps the use of this simple and elegant floral nomenclature would also be preferable to the complex terminology currently used the scientific community?  Who knows, but one thing for sure is that the time has come to redefine our understanding of the clitoris and finally see it for what it truly is, in all of its glory.
